Meet The Photographer
My name is Rian (pronounced "Ryan"), and I am a photographer who does various types of photography. I have been taking photos since I was little girl. So, photo taking is something I have always been passionate about and interested in. I work to show and express emotions through my images. It can range from the subjects being used to show emotion, to my own emotions being shown, and sometimes even both. As far as techniques go, I tend to be experimental, so I like to try different approaches and different styles. Essentially, I just go with my best sense of judgment with each photo I take. The influence of my artwork is very diverse and is impacted by many different artists in society. I feel like many well-known artists contributed to my approach and view because all artists use their best judgment to figure out how to portray and make their work. So, my influence ranges from Marcel Duchamp, Annie Leibovitz, Pablo Picasso, and Frida Kahlo to Diane Arbus, Cindy Sherman, Lucie Rie, and Betty Woodman. I feel like my beliefs and values are shown in my work through authenticity and open mindedness. Authenticity is within my work in the way I convey emotions, and open mindedness is present in my work through my ability to try new things and work with various techniques. These thoughts and ways I have of doing art have not changed over the years and I do not think it will ever change due to the open mindedness I have and willingness to work with different styles.
